Definately. My entire savings account is like that. I don't have a job, so I don't have all that to deal with, but I make it a goal to never withdraw from my savings. Whatever I have out is whatever I can spend until I get gifted more money for holidays or my birthday (My grandma knows I want money for college, so I get $10 on halloween and easter, $20 on my birthday, and random amounts for Christmas from my extended family). I treat money in my savings as spent money I cannot use for anything, especially some is in a Christmas Club account, earning 4.5% interest, provided I don't touch it. Right now I have $3 left in my pocket, but I'm gonna make about $20 next week, so I'll be set for buying the rest of my Christmas presents for people.

I really like this: "When I calculate my change in net worth each month, I don’t include the account because I view it as having already been spent."
Good advice.
