I discovered through working there that the path I had chosen wasn't anything I was truly passionate about. That said I would go back to wrok there in a heartbeat, I think that Mr. Welch created a working environment that allowed it's employees to find a niche. It seemed to be "easy" to transfer to different departments & even plants. I learned so much from the management perspective, things I still use today. I do know that it has taken 13 years for me to be able to BUY a non-GE appliance, I still start there...I think they put something in our water, or maybe it's family related because I have a bunch of family either currently or formerly working for the company! Goodness, it's still my stock of choice... He needs to write a book on how they instill loyalty like that (brain washing???) I was only there for 2 summers!!! It's not a fanciful romantic notion surrounded by 'what if's and 'maybe's. It's an elevating and uplifting emotion that can fuel you with the drive and ambition needed to succeed. It's working 'til the sun comes up without even realising you're tired! But it can blind you and so requires a degree of levelheadedness and control. It’s important to understand the definition of passion. It’s not a fanciful romantic notion surrounded by ‘what if’s and ‘maybe’s.
