Thanks so much for the mention Trent. The closest thing I’ve had to a vacation like yours is going to Yosemite, CA. However, I’ve tried Washington state as well and Hawaii. There were places to get lost in there too. Lovely wilderness.

I grew up in Northern California, and as a child I always felt that “something” was missing. I had that feeling of having arrived home when I stepped off a plane in Roanoke, Virginia, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I lived there for 6 years and still miss it every single day, although I’ve now lived in Ohio for 13 years.

I lived 4 years in the Willamette Valley in Oregon; it’s very nice too!

Like Anne, I also grew-up in the Pacific NW. I agree, no place in the country feels the same way, but I’ve only been to ~30 of the 50 states, thus far!

I know how you feel about a place making you want to chuck everything and stay there. There’s a tiny beach about an hour’s train ride south of Barcelona that made me want to drop everything and do whatever I could to stay there for the rest of my life. I have a picture I took of that beach just before sunset and every time I look at it, I find myself pricing plane tickets to Spain.
