Earlier this year I bought some new bedding at a department store and got a coupon on the receipt for a free 8x10 portrait from the picture studio. My mother used to make my sister and me take a portrait every year and still has them all on her wall. The two of us bought really cheap dorky shirts like we used to wear 20 years ago, did our hair like little kids, and took a portrait with a lame pose. Total cost, about $20 each (two smaller pictures for my grandmothers to qualify for the coupon, costumes, frame). I know she'll get a kick out of it and chuckle for years every time she walks by it.

Nice ideas. I was curious though about the memory jar. What is the purpose of the pennies? Just to hold down the strips of paper?
