Is step 6 the best thing to do right now seeing that people are still getting laid off and I don't see any signs that it's going better in the next year.

Probably minimum payments till I get to a 3-6 month emergency fund?

I am reading this book now (July 2009), and it just doesn't feel relevant. I'm about 100 pages into it and I do not relate to anything in here. I will probably continue to read through this - but fast, skimming it - though I expect it simply was not written to apply to dire (i.e., deep recession, people underwater on mortgages, etc.) circumstances.

I have read All your worth too, and I thought that it was a great book. Easy to read, easy to follow the advice. I already called the home owners insurance company and got my insurance very nearly halved. This is something I would never have thought about.

Your last comment that you worry about this being a little like a diet is only somewhat true in my opinion. Yes, you can fall of this (or any other) plan. However, as the authors continually say, this is a life time plan, not a crash course. So, even if you do fall off the wagon (and they do talk about that in their section on backsliding), you get back up and keep going because you're in this for the long hall.

Great book, and great review, I look forward to reading up on the other books you've reviewed here.
