Marvel, sounds like you might be depressed and lack of interest is a common symptom. Recent studies have suggested that exercising is more effective than Prozac or Zoloft in regulating your mood. Try waking up and going for a job early in morning for 15-20 mins. It should help. Good luck!

I've read the Now Habit and have tried implementing its methods. While I'm certain it works for some people it didn't work for me. I think for the hopeless cases like myself the problem lies deeper. Right now I'm reading "Feeling Good" and "When Panic Attacks" and my hopes are high. Merely reading 'Feeling good' has actually been clinically proven to be as effective or more effective long term as the best drugs and face to face therapy.

re: The Unschedule.

The biggest thing I took away from The Now Habit was thinking realistically about how much time I have to get things done, i.e. factoring lunch breaks, time chatting with co-workers, checking email, etc. into the workday. Just realizing that when I have a project due in a week, that means just twenty real, productive hours I could spend on it, not forty (or even sixty) did a great deal to get me moving.

The only thing I procrastinate on is my Spanish, I just don't have the motivation to do it. Other than that my real problem is disorganization! Drives the wife mad, so it you review any books on organization I'd be really interested.

Say, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your blog. I really like the in-depth book reviews because I don't have access to many books here (I'm in Cameroon) and I've always read more book reviews than books anyway .

And, even though some of your priorities are different than mine, your clarity about your priorities and what it means to really *live* them in the choices you make, is really helping me see *my* priorities more clearly.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

I was researching personal productivity/procrastination (I'm a terrible, terrible procrastinator) and came across this book, as well as GTD.

This book spoke to me long before GTD did (I got them at the same time, months and months ago, and only just now am learning to appreciate GTD). It's very gentle and gives you practical ways to think about your procrastination. It was a breath of fresh air for me, honestly. Creative people tend to be the worst procrastinators because they're also extremely hard on themselves, and The Now Habit helps teach us to be a little less harsh. Glad to see it's continuing to get recognition.

Uncertainty can also make it difficult for us to act quickly.
Its true that uncertainty and anxiety can force us to take out mind off the track and make us waste our time and energy. However dealing with uncertainty creatively on a daily basis is very helpful in dealing with it to come up with many creative solutions. Embracing uncertainty creatively puts us back ongrowthtrack. Hope to combile it with power of now.
