Yum! Blue cheese in burger: sooo good! Next time, try adding a pinch of cumin or curry powder, too.

I have less of a compulsion to wash my bath towels unless I’ve used them 3 or 4 times. I’m cleaner when I use that towel than I am at any other time of the day.

Dinner Impossible in the Food Network did a similar burger recently. I oughta try ‘em out, yum.

Blue Cheese and Thyme (and Black Pepper too) is what I like.

Recipe: Mix Blue Cheese and Thyme (and Black Pepper too) into the burger. Cook it. ;).

Really though, it’s that simple! Use about 1/4 as much blue cheese as you use burger (less or more depending on your tastes). Pinch of each spice per burger.

Ooh, I love bleu cheese too…I wonder how it would be on a veggie burger.

I don’t get the towel thing, however. I regularly go more than a week (maybe two or more) without washing my towel. Maybe it has more time to dry out between showers since I don’t feel the need to waste the water and time by showering daily.

Have you tried the Frugal Gourmet’s Blue Cheese pasta? Basically, it is 4 oz blue cheese, a can of evaporated milk, a little cayenne pepper, a little diced onion (for garnish) and Parmesan. Melt the cheese, add milk and pepper, simmer until thickening. Use Parmesan to finish thickening and serve on pasta with the onion for garnish. Yum!

I’ve also found that hanging towels in my bedroom to dry instead of in the bathroom keeps them cleaner for longer. That may not work as well in humid parts of the country as it does for me.

I also don’t get the people who don’t shower daily. Most days, I do smell after a day, just from sweating doing normal activities. Plus, my hair looks wet from grease if I go for two days without washing it. I’m sure there are individual differences, though- I had two friends in college who said they only washed once every four days, and I was very surprised when I found out.

I recommend non-terry bath towels. Either waffle-weave or flat cotton towels airdry MUCH faster, saving your indoor air quality, your future mold-repair bills, your AC, and your dryer bills. They also bleach nicely, so I’m not tempted to replace them as often. Yet another example of a senseless custom.

Would this be Maytag Blue Cheese, from just down the road in Newton, IA? Because we always get some when we visit family out that way (2 wheels), and it makes a great gift. That is, if the recipients *enjoy* blue cheese…

@ !wanda: Your hair (and presumably your entire body) adapts to the amount of washing it gets. If you want to increase the time between washings, you need to be willing to let it get grungy for a week (or two). Say you have a week off work - wash your hair every other day, and toward the end of the week your hair will be getting less greasy by the 2nd day. By the end of the 2nd _week_, you should be able to go 2 days with no problem.

Of course this depends on the length of your hair, how thick it is, etc. My hair is down to my waist, and it gets too dried out if I wash it every day. My goal is to only have to wash it once/week! (Right now I’m on a 5-day cycle.)

Just curious - did your wife also eat the burgers? It may not be as dangerous since you cooked it, but bleu cheese is not safe for us preggies. Like all soft cheeses (and deli meats) it carries the risk of listeriosis which, although rare, can be really dangerous and even fatal to baby. If it is safe when it is cooked, I’m sure it just has to be brought to at least 165 degrees (which would make the burgers pretty dry.)
I’m only four months right now, and I don’t know how I’ll make it five more with no feta!

Oh, and thank you so much for the breakfast ideas! I LOVE having burritos on hand!

AND, I am definitely a one use per towel kinda gal. I don’t want to end up drying my face where someone (even me) dried their butt!
