Great article – and SO true!

For many many years, I’ve focused on trying to make money (online and off) instead of determining what my passion really is. Sadly, I’m still chasing the money, but not nearly as much now.

From time to time, I still get sucked into some marketing hype for the latest get-rich-quick scheme/gizmo/program/etc and pull out my wallet. Of course, a few days later, I return it for a refund because I’ve done nothing with it other than feel guilty for making the purchase.

Hmmm… Maybe I need to set aside some time to figure out my passion and then go from there. :-)

I too am up at 4 am to 7 am working on blogging and or other online things.

You know, I can’t remember when I last took the time to consider my passions.

Some passions are best left unbastardized (like my passion for my dog – I have no desire to try to parlay that into a money making venture).

Others, like my love of public speaking and giving advice, could totally be “exploited” for income.

Good article. I think the key is having a defined goal of what success is. When you set benchmarks for yourself and meet them, that feeling of accomplishment is what keeps you going. It’s a concept I think is applied in a lot of online video games, and people don’t realize if they applied the same principles to their real life they can get amazing results.

I like this because I am a big believer in what I call “sliding” not “leaping” into a life change. Leaping has just never worked for me–it fact it created some major life crisies. But I’ve tried a plan like this before and it has always worked well. Timing is excellent for me because I’ve recently climbed out of the wreck caused by my last “leap” and am now looking forward to goin gafter some new dreams.

I believe passion and the desire to achieve something is the most important thing on chasing our dream.

I always use the first tips – set a time to do something for my dreams. This will make me contribute to my dream everyday. Besides that I also review my steps, actions and strategy from time to time.

Nice. I started my little blog to generate some money, but I’ve found that I really enjoy doing it and I get a lot of joy out of hearing from people that I have helped them in some way. So for me, the passion is coming into the picture after I started and now it’s giving me more creative ideas for the future too.

My advice is that if you aren’t sure what you are passionate about, at least find something of interest to you and give it a shot- it may lead you in a new direction.

Trent – Great post, you are absolutely right about not focusing on the money. People become enslaved by focusing on money rather than on their passion. The people who made the biggest impact in the world weren’t chasing money, they were chasing a dream.
