Trent,

One thing I always wondered was how to evaluate a company? Google finance gives lot’s of numbers like P/E, F P/E, Beta, EPS, Yield and so on. Given a company how do I run the numbers and see if this is a good buy or not? I regularly read through your book reviews but did not find any book that deals with the raw number crunching required to “know” a company. Can you write an article about this, kind of like a walk through about getting intimate with a company :)

Hum, interesting commentary; the world of mutual funds has certainly changed since this book was written (much for the better, at least with respect to index funds and their descendants, ETFs). This series continues to be interesting; I’ll have to look into The Intelligent Investor.

I agree with Xenko. No one knows when the market bottom is going to be, but I do know one thing – everything is on sale 50% off compared to what it was in October 2007. Maybe I won’t hit the absolute bottom right now, but there’s a sale going on.

Hi Trent. In Bogle’s “Little Book of Common Sense Investing” he does mention that Warren Buffett once told him that Graham spoke very highly of index funds before he passed away.

(I think it’s in the introduction, but the copy I read was the library’s so…I can’t really check right now. :-)
