Based on your review that book seems like a pretty good read. I like their term, “money madness.” I’ve even seen a person trying to pay off his debts by trying to give the collector a drawing he thinks is worth about $200!

The Vanguard funds that you mention all have HUGEEEEE minimums. The first bond (VBMFX) has a $100,000 minimum investment.

We DO learn our ideas of money at an early age.
I used to watch the way my dad managed money at an early age, and felt something was wrong about it, but just – he’s my dad and must be right.
I love him dearly but tt took me years to unlearn.
My dad actually used to say, ‘It take money to make money’
I now know that that simply isn’t true.

I dunno, a Lamborghini sounds good to me, but I’ll pass on the mansion. I’m a condo kind of person anyhow, I like my houses small and cheap-ish, and I’ll splurge on the cars. ;)

Sounds like an interesting book, I kind of like the “money psychology” kinds. The idea of spending ranges is one I like — why should I set a number that I might just end up not hitting and then feeling guilty about it later?

Enough is just a good concept, though, just really hard to figure out… Instead, I’ve decided that I just won’t be overly stupid at my age, figure out my favorite hobbies and pursue those.

My IRA doesn’t have enough in it to ever be “well balanced,” so I’m working on shares in various Vanguard ETF’s instead… We’ll see how it goes, can’t hurt to have money in this market. :)
