Trent - do any of these do recipes for 1 or 2? I'm the only one here and I have a very small freezer. I don't want to freeze too many leftovers in order to have room for sales. Have you seen any of the Country magazines, Taste of Home, etc.? They are excellent also.

Alton Brown's Good Eats on the food network has an episode about granola bars, which are pretty good, and the recipe is on the food network webisite. I'll have to try these ones too though!

Trent, I know you're from the midwest, but have you checked out Maine Food and Lifestyle (http://www.mainefoodandlifestyle.com)? Some of the recipes they have there are pretty unique, although I guess they are a bit higher end.

I wish I could read food blogs. When I do I just get hungry so I have to stay away from them for the most part. For some reason the Food Network doesn't do that to me, I wish I knew why.

For the most part I agree with the spend less, eat healthier ideas. I observe most, but do not follow the first. As an example, I have an apple in my lunch every day. I like them and am willing to pay a little extra off season. I'm old enough to remember when the local supermarket didn't have a certain fruit or vegetable because they were out of season.

As Texans we often "Mexicanize" our leftovers. The difference is that we add the requisite spices and a little chopped jalapeno pepper to the mix and we use corn tortillas (cheaper, fewer calories, less fat). Tonight's concoction: leftover Thai coconut chicken curry and grilled Persian vegetables, tossed together with jalapenos and quickwokked; along with watercress and lettuce on corn tortillas.

Have you read Mark Bittman's book "Food Matters"? If you haven't, I highly recommend it. If you have, is there any chance that you'll write a review? I know it's not very much like the other books you review, but it deals with a lot of the same topics that you've touched on in your food-related posts, so I don't think it would be out of place.
