Home videos always make be sob! My digital camera would take videos when I was in high school, and I have so many recordings of my friends and I.

It's been years since I've seen those people, but it always brings tears to my eyes when I see those tapes!

Some folks make scrapbooks for the same reason. Someday your grandchildren will enjoy looking at these treasures too. Next time you visit your parents, show your son pictures of YOU as a little boy. He'll love 'em!

Plus, (though it may be hard to believe now), someday your own memory may be dimmed through time. These memorabilia will be priceless to you.

My dad didn't own a video camera when we were growing up, but he did occasionally borrow the neighbor's camera, so we have a small handful of family videos. One from my middle sister's 5th birthday, and one of my youngest sister learning to walk. Much like the family pictures from my childhood (we have about a zillion--my dad was and is an AVID photographer), I was always fascinated by how young my parents looked, what I was like at that age (I don't really remember), etc. I can see why your son would be fascinated by them. Give him another ten years, and he'll be even more intrigued, I guarantee it.

Two of the articles you linked to really jumped out at me: "11 Steps..." and "... Fact about Loneliness."

The first hit me because I have always chosen to do the hard thing over the easy thing, but when it came to college the place I attended was almost too hard, and I've been trying to fight down the negative reactions I have to some of my time there. Reading through that article helped me, again, to put the experience in perspective and realize that all is not lost because I spent four years and tens of thousands of dollars on a philosophy degree that challenged me and taught me how to write, but is not, at first glance, terribly useful in the current job market.

The second one struck me as interesting because I am alone in my job 80% of the time. Not because I work for myself but because my boss is out of the office often. It almost drains me of energy to be alone that much, I'm finding, to the point where I don't want to go hang out with friends after work, or whatever.
