I’ve been able to get at least 25% more gas mileage and if you set it about 1 mile or so above the speed limit, it’s just the right speed that keeps you moving, but allows for everyone else to pass around you.

No stress from playing leap frog across the highway, and a lot of money saved.

Check FlyerTalk.com See the “Miles Buzz” section and “Hotel Deals” sections. There are MANY ways to score deals and even get free flights and rooms, but be advised that the quickest way to get miles and points is to take out credit cards… so this may be unappealing to readers of a PF blog.

One example: British Airways is making it possible to easily get 100,000 miles when you take out a BA Visa Signature card. (There is a $75 annual fee.) BA flies between Toronto and Vancouver, so this might be an option for you.

If you do some research, you ought to be able to find some ways to travel in relative style, but inexpensively.

Do you and your family ever fly to your destinations? I’m starting to plan a trip to Western Canada (probably Calgary, where my in-laws are) next summer for my family of 4. I’m frugal by nature but I feel like this trip will cost an unavoidable fortune. We’re flying from Toronto, but have lots of family in Vancouver and some on Vancouver Island, all of whom have expressed interest in seeing us. Any ideas on how to fly / rent a car / find accommodation (we can’t stay with family ALL the time) within a limited travel budget?
