Funny – didn’t you post awhile ago about how you couldn’t identify to most music anymore because you’re a parent now?
I am glad you didn’t write off Oasis (and other good music) because they don’t mention kids though. I love their music so much!

Have fun! Growing up we had to listen to whatever my parents wanted – it was their car so their music. Funny now how my Dad tried to change the radio station in my vehicle to his music – wrong – told him my car so my music!!!!! We had a good laugh about that.

I love ‘No Rain’, makes me all nostalgic for the 90s :)

@Lurker Carl, a great compromise are all the CDs ‘adult’ artists put out of kids’ songs. I don’t have kids but if/when I do Johnny Cash’s kids album will be one of my first purchases. I think most parents would rather listen to that than Kidz Bop.

I LOVE those groups.
Another idea is to have friends make up mix cd’s and you send them out.
Example – make 5 cd’s and send to 5 friends, those 5 each sending you 1 of the music they think you should listen to. Its great for hearing new groups and genres!

OK I really like “No Rain”! If your driving alot this summer, look into checking out books on CD for your kids. We drove from Maine to South Carolina with the CDs being the only entertainment for our kids. They LOVED them!

#5 – My son LOVES Reel Big Fish! He can’t sing along yet, but he’s been listening to our music since he was born. The cd of “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd used to put him to sleep. I used Pink Floyd for the same purpose when I was in high school and would babysit for my cousins, and when I mentioned it to my dad, he said that he used to play that for me when I was a baby. I guess its a family tradition :)

#4- Naaah. My daughters fave singalong car music at age 3 was the Ramones. Of course, she made up her own versions of the lyrics lol! I think that a few kids tunes should be included but tons of kiddy music on the road will drive ya nuts-or it did when I tried it anyhow. Just cant do it!

Blind Melon, *shudder*. That “No Rain” song makes me want to gouge out my own eyeballs. Seriously, I heard that song the other and was in a foul mood for a good 2 hours after. But to each his own. The music I like listening to would probably make you feel the same.
