"For me, the best way to do this is to focus on one area of my life each week"...
My knee jerk reaction was to say that it must be nice to have that luxury. But I suppose I could do this to an extent. My work is project driven, so I could choose to focus on one project for the week (or for part of the week). But really, my work is driven by deadlines and (more often than not) phones calls of the "can you get me this tomorrow" variety.
I'm hoping that implementing GTD will ultimately help me provide a more accurate answer to "how soon can you do this?"

Thanks again for writing this series, Trent. While I don't always agree with your perspective it does always get me thinking in a direction to fully develop my own.

I have been like a kid waiting for Christmas with this series. I did finally pick up the book but it is great to get your take on how you actually live the system, especially because I sometimes get lost in the book on what should be done.

I have a next actions list now, but feel I already need to do a weekly review, even though it hasn't been a week since I started this!

I tried to implement at work, but didn't fully get there before summer break (I'm a teacher). I at least did a collect even if I didn't truly process everything because at least it will be waiting there for me to process in the fall. I think I can let it go that much. :)

I feel like a total nerd but when I identify something that speaks to me like this system, I go whole hog! I had the same feeling when I first encountered Your Money or Your Life. And people thought I was nuts then, too :)

Keep 'em comin'! (well, of course you will!)

This is the hardest part. Especially when you don't feel like you have enough going on in your life to review, due to being unemployed but staying busy with volunteer work here and there, and working on projects on your own with the goal of getting income flowing in again.

I think this is the hardest part. Mainly because it is a review step and you just want to keep going doing stuff not getting ready to do stuff.

I came across your blog today, and this is seriously one of the best blog posts I have read in a long time. My current system is similar to the one described here, but it functions between a yellow notepad and a Text file on my computer.

"I think about how everything I’m doing fits into my larger lifelong goals. I mostly just spend time thinking about where my life is going, what things that I wanted to do “someday” (things often saved on a list, actually) might actually be coming into focus, whether or not the things I’m doing right now are in line with what I want to be doing in my life, and so on."

Brilliant advice. So often in life I have been sharply focused on moving from one step to the next that I did not look where I was going. Then a year or two later, I will look up and wonder how in the world I got there.

I will be bookmarking this post, and looking forward to Tuesday's post.
