Thanks for posting these practical takes on GTD. A small correction - I believe this is the 12th entry in this series. I could be wrong, but the last entry was labeled the 11th entry.

I find myself asking my four year old this question...for example, "Ok, now we need to brush your teeth. What's the next step?" When she breaks it down to small steps, she can do lots of things all by herself. She just can't always remember what the next step is, and needs a little reminding!

It's funny, but another way of putting it is that a next action is leaving a note to your future self explaining what it is you mean to do.

This is very, very true. I used to keep a white board that had a list of things I wanted to get done -- after a few weeks I'd look up and nothing had changed.

I've now gotten into the practice of keeping a daily todo list, and I make sure that everything I write on it has some sort of call to action. "Clean the blinds", "fix the fan", "call so-and so about something".

When I finish a task, this lets me look at the list, and I don't have to think about what I need to do in order to cross something off the list, I just need to read it and do it.

Hi there! I just wanted you to know I love this post series so much, I went and got the book, and I'm looking to start the system this weekend. Thanks! I feel weird about recycling all that paper from the notes though!

I absolutely LOVE that you're doing these articles on each chapter. Since you started I have begun implementing the advice from the book and have become slightly more productive. As soon as I get the system down and put it into full force, I know I'll be a machine. Keep up the good work!
