Trent, your series was tremendously helpful for me, and I finally (a couple years after first trying) put the GTD system together, folders, tape, and all.

When I got through the first round (which took *t*i*m*e* and concentration), I found a side-effect that no one has mentioned, so far: GTD means that everything that would normally be on my desk has a place, and goes there.
This is a revolution in my working habits - knowing that out-of-sight will not be out of mind is a tremendous comfort. I realize that I've had clutter in front of my face because of anxiety about losing track of things, and those two factors were just bleeding my productivity away.

So thanks, again, for writing the series. It rocks.

I've read GTD and MIAW both multiple times. When I need re-invigoration, I generally go back to MIAW.

However, I wanted to lend GTD to someone and I couldn't find it. I was panicked. It led me to complete a neglected project of cleaning out a room. Ironic, no?

I didn't know that David Allen had a follow-up book! I'll have to go check that out; thanks for the info.

My partner and I take a weekend off each fall to have an annual retreat, just like a company's board of directors. We talk about lifetime dreams, to make sure we're still on the same page, and we create year-long goals and projects that will get us closer to where we want to be. I wrote about our process at http://howtomonetize.me/annual-planning-what-do-you-want-to-accomplish-this-year/

I have hung on to your GTD series. GTD IS going to change my life, I'm just still working on it. And your series helped me focus on a different part of the book each time I read one of your essays. I have found that a lot of my spending was tied in to being disorganized, so as I integrate frugality into my life, I'm also starting to integrate being organized, too. I wish I had Calvin's overnight success, but most of my changes have been taking a piece of GTD advice or Simple Dollar money tips and trying it on for size, adjusting to fit my life, etc. Excellent series and excellent follow up article! Thank you!

I've found that Steve Covey's 7 Habits is a very good companion to GTD.

GTD is very down and dirty with the nitty gritty problems of keeping track of things and getting them accomplished.

7 Habits is really good at the high level, "what am I doing with my life?" problems, but sucks at helping you get them done.

Thanks Trent for this great post (and the rest of the GTD series). I've made several half-hearted attempts to implement GTD over the last couple of years, but I keep falling off the wagon. Your posts have encouraged me to have another go.
