I read TSD daily and I read every post, including book reviews. This particular book review series is the exception for me. I completely skip it due to lack of interest. I would suggest limiting book reviews to installments of 3 or less. 20 is excessive and risks losing readers of this blog who haven't kept up on this book review series from the beginning.

Normally I am well behind when reading a book being reviewed. I am pleased to say that I finished the book a couple of days ago. Since I am trying to finally seriously incoporate GTD approach into my life, I am certain I'll find the reviews very helpful and they'll serve as reminders of the many hows and whys. Thus they will help me accomplish my goal.

Enjoying this series :)

Trent, I find that your summaries are thorough enough that I can use the ideas without reading the book.

@ Shannon - There tend to be few comments on book reviews on many sites. It doesn't mean no one is reading or enjoying them.

David Allen has cracked the code for the majority of us who struggle with everything life throws at us. I have been using his GTD system for five years, shared and taught it to my employees and believe it is the simplest method of getting the gems separated from the trash in life. Removing distractions and getting to the place where you are totally absorbed and lose track of time is where creativity is spawned.

Not surprising that your comment would be negative. Why do you read TSD if you find so little value in it? Just to have a place to be nasty?

I thought Making it All Work was a fairly decent book and GTD is a fairly decent system if you have the personality for it. Systems that are overly prescriptive make me personally feel like a *human doing* rather than a *human being*.

Having spent years striving to reach the zenith of the productivity mountain, I'm a bigger fan today of elimination over recording every brain-burp I have a la GTD. There's something about recording things on a list that makes me think I am supposed to actually *do it all* - and oddly enough makes me overwhelmed as well.

Do you think GTD does enough of eliminating low value activities? And how did you accomplish that - through your weekly reviews?
