I’ve caught the most popular syndicated service pimping one company’s stock to bolster price changes due to an impending lawsuit against the company, and pushing two more stocks which actually were poised to fall because of increased competition in the business. Trust only the figures and check background press releases.

As mentioned above, the Bogleheads website is a wealth of knowledge which can be easily searched. I haven’t read “Investing for Dummies,” – I’m sure it’s a good resource for beginners. I would recommend “The Investment Answer” for beginners as well.
