Of course, this example isn’t exactly what you’re discussing in this article…then again, I guess it depends on how you’re keeping score. I tend to keep score based on my level of satisfaction with my life…

Did a doctor tell you that you are overweight or your cholesterol is high? By how much?

Is a 3.5 GPA really too low–can you settle for something other than a 4.0?

By how much do you need to improve your credit score–what are you trying to qualify for?

I’d change that first step to ‘gather information.’ In addition to reading: talk to friends or family who have dealt with the same issue, talk to or listen to experts on the topic, discuss with your life partner, take a class.
