The book review is better than the 365 days rehash. I agree with #8. Don't be like the teachers that teach a couple of years and then go on "cruise control." But, I really like your inspiration pieces. They often move me to tears--not a bad thing. The photographs illustrating 365 days may be "good" photographs, but I would encourage Brittany to be more creative. Are you suggesting the subject and how it should be presented? Keep up the good work--it can't be easy to turn out a creative, stimulating, informative page-a-day, especially with someone looking over your shoulder.

#7 Very clever KC! "but my calling is using my words to change people’s lives." No, your calling and the calling of the new owners is to make as much revenue from The Simple Dollar with as little work (editing, spell check, correct grammar) as possible, by doling out lifestyle comments (on your part) and churning out advertising )on the owner's part). This is NOT a bad thing, more Americans ought to dream up a new business and start it, but the original days of The Simple Dollar, of sharing your struggle with the public as a way to your goal of financial solvency and then prosperity are past, that was truly a calling and original work. Now a lot of your output is rehashing what others (and you) have already written, like subjecting us to 365 chapters which you have already written and are fluffing out so that you don't have to come up with 365 new topics, which would require a lot of thought and listing 10 bits of inspiration invented by others instead of writing an original column. You're using cruise control with your writing, by rehashing previous work, and generating cash, and that is wonderful for you. But it's not a "calling", it's an income stream. An income stream is a fabulous thing, and you are to be applauded in how you've invented a career and are making money. But please, "a calling"?

I think "book reports" is more apt.

I don't know why Trent refuses to acknowledge that these posts - and many others - contain Amazon affiliate links. The FTC mandated that as of December 1st, 2009, bloggers must disclose any connection with advertisers including affiliate links and whether they received free products. GRS has a blanket disclosure on its home page, for instance.

I don't understand why the new owner of TSD hasn't figured out that the site doesn't comply with the FTC's ruling, and addressed it.

People have been making up English words for a long time, and complaining about them for almost as long (see "inkhorn terms"), and the English language hasn't died yet. But in my own opinion, "entreleadership" is a particularly ugly and lazy example of the class of ugly, lazy portmanteau words that have somehow become popular over the last few years. So complain away about that.

Made-up words like "entreleadership" are contributing to the death of the English language. I don't care how good the book is; with a title like that it won't be entering my house.
