I dunno. Sometimes you can get things from catalogs that you can’t get from the local brick-and-mortar stores.

I think it’s good to unsubscribe from catalogs that you can’t resist offering up your credit card for or catalogs that, to you, are unnecessary. Why keep getting The Widget Catalog if you’re uninterested in Widgets?

Although I do try to unsubscribe from unnecessary catalogs, mailing lists, and even email lists… I like looking through a real catalog sometimes instead of just internet pages, and my daughter (2 years old) likes looking at the pictures. I let her look at the kids in the Toys R Us mailer and then recycle it. We don’t ever buy anything just because we saw it in the catalog (though I can see where you could be tempted, especially if there is a coupon or sale)

Yeah, don’t be scared of catalogs. Just flip through them, say “ooh! that looks nice” and then throw the catalog away and get on with your life. Do you buy everything you see on TV? Didn’t think so.

As a bride-to-be, I’ve been getting tons of wedding catalogs in the mail. Pretty sure it’s because I tried on dresses at David’s Bridal and of course when filling out my information I gave them my address and email. And I’m sure Facebook has marketing for when a relationship status changes, marketers can target you for practically anything. Oy.
