Q8: You can also purchase larger quantities of eggs in boxes, usually 2 1/2 doz. These come in cardboard, which are recyclable. Also, the cost per egg usually comes out cheaper buying in bulk.

Tom, I believe ALL Roth 401k’s are setup so the employer match is treated as pre-tax account. Otherwise it would be away for employers to funnel totally tax free money to employees.

Q9 – If you’re investing in a Roth 401k and getting a company match, it may not be 100 percent tax free, as the matches are usually considered pre-tax money.
They’re relatively new financial products, so your situation may vary, but if it is set up the same way as one at my work, I personally don’t consider it tax free.

This may be unconventional but don’t forget that you can stay in the house as a bunch of housemates in different rooms. It helps to have help with the kids, yard, etc. You could set a time line for how long to stay. Might become a new trend with the economy, etc. Could be tricky if you want to date but he seems amicable and you could do that away from home. Don’t forget you can still be beneficiaries on each other’s life ins. policies. A living trust can be set up in both of your names. It doesn’t have to be messy.

A married couple could save $500k in a taxable IRA or 401k and pull out 4% annually and have a $0 tax bill due to the standard deduction / exemptions for people over 65.
