I’m in favor of the penny being eliminated.

However, I am kind of confused by the idea that spending more money to make a penny than its monetary value is somehow wasteful. A penny is used many many times over its life time. The 2.5 cents a coin is an investment into its durability.

I just think they should be eliminated because they don’t really make much sense in the scale of costs we have now.

To my knowledge, chlorine only turns “bottle blonde” hair to green, not natural blondes. And even then, it depends on the type of dye that was used.

Canada is eliminating the penny this fall. Cash purchases will be rounded to the nearest nickel. Debit/credit purchases will still be to the exact amount. No word on how the change affects coupons.

Do you know what happens to all those phones that are discarded after being used only 2 years? It boggles my mind that you would propose someone do that when they want a phone they can depend on for more than 2 years. I’ve had my phone for over 4 already and it still works fine. Why would I ‘upgrade,’ even for a free phone, if I truly didn’t need to? Such waste.
