I agree. This article completely omits all the additional benefits that a solid salaried position will provide – health insurance, life insurance, paid maternity/paternity/disability leave, professional training, and retirement options, maybe even a smart phone and/or laptop, and experience and connections that will help you advance your career. For many of us the pros far outweigh the cons.
