I’ve written about my love of the crock pot for making great homemade meals that cook slowly while you’re at work, but it’s been a life saver since my wife has returned to work. Here are some tasty recipes, too.

When to Pull the Plug on Bargain Hunting I don’t actively bargain hunt anymore – it’s usually diminishing returns, and quite often I found I just spent six hours bargain hunting to save $10 or “save” $25 on something I didn’t really even want anyway. (@ queercents)

Choosing an Asset Allocation, Step 1: Deciding on the Stocks to Bonds Ratio I’m linking to this because of one fascinating graph in the story. It turns out that investing in 80% bonds and 20% stocks is actually more stable than 100% bonds – and returns better, too. (@ my money blog)

Alternative Income Is a Virus I agree. I’ve been working on a number of alternative income streams over the last year – and I want more. (@ lazy man and money)

  1. I broke out the crock pot recently and am trying to figure out what recipes to use. I have one recipe book but I find the recipes tend to use canned ingredients. And if I am anything, I’m a bit of a food snob. If you’re going to actually make something using fresh ingredients is the way to go – so much tastier.

  2. The crock pot is such a time saver and the food lasts several meals! One of our favorite wedding gifts by far. Thanks for the recipes Trent!

Any alternative income I get goes towards paying my car loan sooner. I would definately like more so I can get this monkey off my back.

  3. Jeez first the safety razor and now the crockpot. I’m sold! My fiancee has talked wonders about the crockpot but I didn’t even know what it was. Now I’m going to come around without her finding out why I did…

  4. Trent, if you’re interested in other such graphs as the one posted on My Money Blog, be sure to check out Richard Ferris’s “All About Asset Allocation.” The 5 star amazon ratings are well justified.

Very well written and informative, it’s a fire hose of knowledge concerning what I had incorrectly perceived to be a relatively small topic.

  5. Hi Trent,

I went back and read the “Trimming the Fat” article, called my cable company and got the bill reduced by almost $30!!!
