This week is Financial Independence Week at The Simple Dollar. Each day, I’ll be writing two articles on the theme of children gaining financial indepenedence from their parents/guardians. There are a lot of complex issues at stake – communications, finance, relationships, emotions – and there are some general guidelines that both parents and children can think about when working through how children can begin to fly on their own. At the end of the week, I’ll write a summary of the series. For now, let’s look at some personal finance articles.

What The Hell Is Beta? I was familiar with beta from a mathematics perspective, but it is interesting to see it in a purely financial perspective here. (@ a financial revolution)

No Payments Until 2008! No Interest Until 2011! The sad part is that I used to think such offers were a tremendously good deal and then would be blindsided by an avalanche of debt later on. (@ mighty bargain hunter)
