The Simple Dollar Morning Roundup: Sleepy Girl Edition

My daughter (about three weeks of age) sleeps roughly eighteen hours a day, and half of the time she’s not sleeping, she’s eating. The only problem is that the sleep comes in at most four hour stretches, interrupted by an hour or so of wakefulness, usually starting off with some loud crying for some food. That, along with chasing after a toddler, makes for some tired parents! In fact, I’ve often written during periods of time in the middle of the night bookended by feedings and crying.

Wedding Budget Tips From Caterers Another tip, seriously: talk to people who you know will be attending the wedding and ask for them to give a gift that will make your wedding more memorable. A friend of mine had people bring bottles of champagne as their gift (or as part of their gift) – great idea. (@ make love, not debt)

Wait, are you suggesting that the bride and groom tell people what to bring for a gift? That doesn’t jive with last week’s gift-giving advice. (But perhaps I didn’t understand that sentence…)

  2. Trent says:

Nope, just ask people to be involved in planning and setting things up, and you can tell them that they can skip the wedding gift and actually help instead. For example, ask a whole lot of people to suggest champagnes for the reception and then if they happen to offer to bring a bottle, great. At our wedding, one of the people suggested a brand, then offered to give us a case of it as part of our wedding gift. We accepted.

You know one thing that’s great about getting Old? Other people’s children get cuter and cuter the more certain you become that you will never have to do that again. ;-) And that mom & dad (not you) get to put them to bed…or, uhm…try to put them to bed.

I love little kids! Love ‘em more & more with every day that passes.
