The Simple Dollar Weekly Roundup: Free Kindle Book Edition

If you’d like to read an electronic version of my latest book (and you’re in the United States), you can download it for free for the next few days in Amazon Kindle form. Just visit my book’s Kindle page and download!

You don’t actually have to have a Kindle to read it. There are Kindle clients available for the iPad, the iPhone/iPod Touch, for Android and Blackberry phones, and perhaps most relevant to you, for PCs and Macs.

Download it now, though, because it’s only available for free for a short time.

Why am I giving my book away for free? It gives a lot more people the opportunity to read it. The more people that read it, the more value it has. If you download it now and read it, you might decide that a print version would be a perfect gift for a friend this Christmas or that you’d like a paper version to mark up and dog ear for your own use, too.

Doing One Thing and Doing it Well The value of deep focus is incredible. If you can do one single thing better than the rest, you’ll be known for your quality output. I had fun writing this one. (@ open forum)

Save Money On Lawn Care I particularly liked the “get your kids a pair of work gloves” idea. Our yard doesn’t have many leaves in the fall (thankfully – the wind almost constantly blows them out of our yard and there aren’t many trees available to provide leaves anyway), but there are lots of other things to do. Dangers of Using a HELOC as Short Term Savings Solution Far too many people write to me suggesting that their HELOC is a great emergency fund. It’s not. (@ good financial cents)

Five Daily Activities to Improve Your Finances Most big changes in life come down to little daily activities and choices. (@ frugal dad)

  1. I really don’t want to download your book for free….. I already have a nice new hard copy that I am enjoying!!!! Thanks for all of your hard work Trent. Your site and books are an inspiration to me and very appreciated. Please keep up the good work!

As for everyone else, Christmas is coming and this book would be a great gift for most anyone. I wish that I had gotten one during high school 20 years ago. :)

  2. Hooray! Just got it for my Kindle DX, a gift from a rich friend and for which I can rarely afford new books! Thank you!

  3. Thank you for the free kindle edition! Since beginning to read your blog I’ve successfully gone from not knowing where my money is being spent to full control over the flow of money through my life. Next goal – investing!

  4. Thank you so much, Trent! I have wanted to read it, and my library hasn’t gotten it yet. I am so excited!

  5. Thank you for the book! I’ve been reading for a while and waiting to get your book someday from paperbackswap (good tip), but this is even better.

  6. Thanks, Trent! Will an iBooks version be available as well? I don’t care for the Kindle app as much as Apple’s reader program for iPhone and iPad.. I think Amazon’s ebooks are in some restricted proprietary format. ePub or PDF would be great. Thanks!

  7. If you go to Amazon and look at the free books for Kindle EVERY DAY, you can score some great free books (like Trent’s). Some are only there for a day or two, so be diligent.

  8. Thank you so much! I just received a Kindle last month and have wanted your book for awhile. I read the site everyday and learn so much from it. Thanks again!

  9. Ironic how it won’t let you “buy” the book if you don’t have a credit card, isn’t it? I’d love to give it a try but there just is no way I am getting a credit card just so I can download a book about being responsible with money.

  10. Yay! You’re awesome Trent!
I’ll download it tonight and read it on the ferry to Alaska! I’m looking forward to it!

  11. I have never ordered anything from Amazon. I downloaded the kindle for pc but was not able to download yourbook. What do I need to do to get the book to download?

  12. Trent-

Thanks for the mention bud! Congrats on the new book, too. I’m halfway through my first attempt and have a new appreciation for anyone that has gone the distance.

  13. Just a quick note: I’m in Canada and was able to “purchase” your book, so it may work outside of the US. Thanks!

  14. I have been a kindle skeptic, and didn’t want to buy a gadget to read and then pay for book downloads. The free kindle for PC is GREAT on my laptop, thanks for offering your book to us. There are also a lot of other wonderful free books on there, I have already downloaded 3 and I’m very excited to have a whole new library to access from my sofa. Thanks Trent, it feels like Christmas!!!

  15. Thanks so much for making the book available like this! I’m loving it for sure! This goes right along with your advice in it about improving the community. Good work! :)

  16. You’re so generous and amazing. I get great information sent to my email every morning and now a free download of your book. Plus, I didn’t realize you could get Kindle on a pc…

Also @Cheryl thanks for the great tip about free Kindle books. I’m going to check it out right now.

    I love this website!!!

P.S. I’m reading Getting Things Done and it’s a great read. Thanks for the recommendation.

  17. I would love to try the kindle edition of your book as a long time reader of your blog, but it is not free for me. This offer is apparently only free for those with an address in the US. Thanks for the attempt anyway, and I’ll keep reading the blog.

  18. Thank you Trent! This is great! I have been on the wait list at my library for some time now for your book. I am so excited to be able to read it! You rock!

  19. Thank you! Like Maureen this is my first Kindle experience as well and I’m excited to have it be your book. I’m trying to open a dialog with my husband about our finances and my desire to fix them and I’m hoping we can read this together. Thanks Trent!

  20. Thanks Trent! I downloaded your book yesterday, I am really enjoying it. So much so that I shared it with a co-worker today who downloaded it as well.
    Thanks for the great read!

  21. Great…..I bought it months ago (on my Kindle)…..I love it and it is REALLY helping us as a family get on the right path……but I guess I should have waited :P

  22. That is agenerous offer, but unfortunately not available to me. Why is the offer only available in the US?

  23. Thanks, I am reading it now and have been a simple dollar’s regular visitor. Thanks for the book and also thanks for the great and helpful information every day.

  24. Thanks for the book! I also had no idea that you could Kindle on a PC. I found other good free books to read too. Thanks again

  25. Thanks so much for your generous decision, Trent. I downloaded your book and have enjoyed reading it very much. I really like the way you approach the subject of finances. It is different from anything else that I have read and it makes a lot of sense!

I have enjoyed my kindle so much the past year and a half – I hardly ever spend money on books any more since I can get so many for free on the Kindle.

  26. Hi Trent,
I have not managed to download it for free.. There is no such option.
Is it not available anymore?.. :(

  27. Oh, thank you for your daily e-newsletter!

I am definitely going to follow some of your recommendations.
And going to share my experiences in the future! =)

  28. Is the book available still?

I tried downloading, but amazon asked me for my credit card number, so I didn’t…
