The Simple Dollar Weekly Roundup: Questionable Weather Forecasts Edition

Last week, the local weather forecasts were predicting a giant winter storm. Some forecasts were projecting as much as twenty inches of snow in our area.

We got a total of two and a half inches.

Earlier this week, forecasts were projecting a 20% chance of snow for us and, if we did get any, it would be an inch or so.

We have six inches on the ground as I type this and it’s still snowing.

Sometimes, meterology seems like a very inexact science.

Spend More To Save a Little? “If you spend $80, we’ll trim $20 off your bill” sales don’t appeal to me very much. I generally don’t buy anything I don’t need or want regardless of sales. If I do have something in mind that I’m planning on buying, I will wait for a sale, of course, but the only time a sale like that would matter to me is if it coincided with something that cost $80 or more that I was already going to buy.
