Our children have a week off near the end of winter that’s called “spring break” but usually seems to involve cold weather and lots of late winter cabin fever.
Usually, they spend some time during this week visiting grandparents, then we usually plan some sort of fun family excursion for a portion of the break.
Still, I find “spring break” frustrating. I’d either see our children on a year-round “ten week on, three week off” schedule than this. I know that it wouldn’t accomodate the schedules of some parents very well, but it would give our kids more days in the classroom over the course of a year, plus it wouldn’t include the long summer gap where kids regress on their skills.
Creating an “In Case of Death” File I highly suggest that everyone reading this take up this advice. Your spouse, parents, and/or children will find this invaluable at a moment of deep need. (@ tie the money knot)
