What we like about Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card
The benefits of having the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card in your wallet are hard to beat. As a new cardmember, you’ll earn an easy 35,000 bonus miles after you use your card to make $1,000 in purchases within the first three months.
Things to consider
After your first year, you’ll have to pay a $99 annual fee ( See Rates & Fees here ). Although this fee is comparable to similar cards in the same category, it may be enough for you to look elsewhere for a card. For many cardmembers, however, the rewards and benefits earned with the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card make the annual fee more than worth it.
Those benefits will only work for you if you fly Delta often. The miles you earn can only be redeemed for Delta purchases, limiting your redemption flexibility. If you’re someone who prefers to shop around for flights before picking a specific airline, you’d be better off with a more flexible rewards credit card, which gives options for how you spend your miles. Many of them let you transfer miles directly to a partner airline’s rewards program, allowing you to find the best redemption value for the miles you earn.
