The Simple Dollar Weekly Roundup: Endless Rain Edition

Our Memorial Day weekend was filled with tons of rain. On the rare occasions when it wasn’t pouring outside, we couldn’t help but want to go outdoors and do something… after all, it’s Memorial Day weekend, the informal start of summer, right?

Well, with everything being soaked, there was mud everywhere, and our children were attracted to the mud like moths to a light. I don’t even want to guess how many quick excursions outdoors between rainstorms happened this weekend, along with baths taken and mud pies made.

Still, our lawn is so drenched with water at the moment that your shoes make a sloppy “splursh” sound with every step. After the mini-drought of 2012, this is really a radical shift.
