It’s easy to have a child. It’s not nearly as easy to raise one well.
The key thing to remember as a parent is that children need to push boundaries sometimes. They need to do things wrong and discover the consequences of doing so.
It is incredibly easy to get frustrated with this when your child spends an entire day pushing boundaries.
The solution, I’ve found, is to simply give yourself a parental time-out. If you have another parent, ask them to take charge for a while. If you’re a single parent and the children are old enough, put them in another room for a while. If they’re not old enough, it’s worth it sometimes to hire a babysitter just to give yourself a break.
It’s okay to be frustrated and upset. The important part is to know how to deal with it well.
